I was recently invited by RT Edgar Mornington Peninsula to share my favourite homewares stores on the Mornington Peninsula for their newsletter. Naturally I jumped at the opportunity for some retail therapy! Having spent many weekends and holidays in this beautiful part of Victoria over the years, I already had my top shops in mind.
Starting with the bustling Main St of Mornington…..
Home in the Hamptons, 5/117 Main St, Mornington
What They Sell: Classic and coastal style homewares and furniture including lamps, cushions, throws, photo frames and prints, Glasshouse candles and diffusers.
What I Love: Blue ceramic jars, coffee table books and bone inlay furniture.
Page 8: 73 Main St, Mornington
What They Sell: Supporting brands that are 100% Australian owned, featuring vibrant colours in a range of towels and bedding, cushions, Celia Loves candles, vases and childrenswear/baby gifts.
What I Love: Sage & Clare bath mats, Kip & Co cushions.
Saltbox: 29 Main St, Mornington
What They Sell: Coastal and Scandinavian inspired homewares including furnishings, planter pots, kitchen and glassware, baby gifts and SOH candles.
What I Love: Patterned planter pots, Citta striped bath towels.
Heading down the Nepean Highway takes you to the bustling Ocean Beach Rd in Sorrento. Here you will find a wide range of beautiful homewares, these are my favourites…
Big Chair: 119 Ocean Beach Rd, Sorrento
What They Sell: A comprehensive collection of furniture pieces including custom sofas, dining tables and chairs, cushions, towels and Marimekko homewares.
What I Love: Missoni towels, Slim Aarons framed photographic prints.
Saltwater: 153-155 Ocean Beach Rd, Sorrento
What They Sell: A lifestyle clothing and homewares store stocking a range of luxury products including Dinosaur Designs resin homewares, the Foundry and Bison Home vases, resin art pieces and bone inlay accessories.
What I Love: the Foundry vases and votives, Mud ceramics.
Elephant: 3 George St, Sorrento
What They Sell: An oasis off the main street, Elephant is an eclectic mix of colourful homewares including bedding, cushions, towels, candles and Australian gifts.
What I Love: Carla Dinnage ceramics, Jai Vasicek wall tiles.
Head across to the other side of the Peninsula and you will find more hidden gems.
The Artisan Storeroom: 43 Cook St, Flinders
What They Sell: positioned in the heart of Flinders main street featuring artwork by local artists, cushions and bedding, tableware, planter pots and luxury body products.
What I Love: Marmoset Found ceramics, baskets in a range of sizes and shapes.
Red Hill House: 169c Shoreham Rd, Red Hill South
What They Sell: nestled in a beautiful rural setting they stock kitchen and glassware, cookbooks, utensils, Mud ceramics, Samantha Robinson ceramics, baby gifts.
What I Love: Ceramic platters and bowls, Debbie Mackenzie Ltd Edition prints, Laguiole cutlery.
No trip to the peninsula is complete without a visit to this final treasure trove.
Homegoods Hardware:5, 2-8 Russell St, Balnarring
What They Sell: featuring curated pieces from owner Sarah’s travels including furniture, lamps, textiles, kitchenware, candles, decor and coffee table books.
What I Love: Patterned tablecloths and napkins, baskets and range of rattan trays.
