My Hamptons Style Bathroom

Thanks so much everyone for your lovely words and support during our move to the new house. I am still pinching myself that we are finally in! In all, the process has been extremely rewarding. So many decisions involved (my grey hairs are appearing with a vengeance!) but I am already missing my fortnightly catch ups with the builder.

I wrote a post last year for Perini Tiles about How To Create a Hamptons Style Bathroom.  So you know that I practice what I preach, I thought I would share some photos of our ensuite and how I used my tips from this blogpost to get My Hamptons Style Bathroom.

1. Subway Tiles

The white subway tiles were an easy choice for the bathroom walls. They are relatively inexpensive and create a clean, classic look. We didn’t tile the entire way to the (3.3m) ceiling but added a white capping tile about 3/4 of the way.

Mr Gallerie B finally got his rain shower.

2. Marble

To create an authentic Hamptons bathroom you would use marble but we were on a tight budget. I love these ‘faux’ marble tiles from Perini Tiles. They have the right white and grey tones that I was after.

I had them laid in a herringbone pattern with a border tile around the perimeter.

3. Vanity

When designing the vanity as well as the aesthetic, I considered our storage needs. I included the inset cupboards with shelving for bottles and the drawers for makeup, brushes etc. Anything to make the morning routine easy! The shaker profile doors and drawers were an easy choice. The joinery colour also differentiates this room from the other wet rooms in the house.

I love the lucite handles and chrome knobs from Restoration Hardware.

4. Sconce Lighting

The sconce lights provide a ‘hotel’ feel. They also give a lovely ambience at night (we have recessed LED downlights for task lighting).

I loved the opportunity to introduce some patterned fabric into the space.

5. Wall Panelling

Our ensuite is not nearly as large as some of the ‘real’ Hamptons ones where wall panelling is a design feature. Tiling the walls was a more realistic option.

6. Neutral Colours

I opted for a soothing, classic grey and white palette. For a bit of colour pink roses in a small vase do the trick.

7. Tapware

I chose more traditional polished chrome wall mounted tapware, with white porcelain levers.

Although I’m a long way from the Hamptons, my ensuite makes me feel a tiny bit closer!
