I have been following Brisbane interior designer, Anna Spiro‘s instagram feed more fervently than usual. Over the past few months she has been teasing her followers with snippets of her interior design work for Halycon House, the new 21-room luxury boutique hotel on Cabarita Beach, NSW. Halcyon House has finally opened its doors and the end result is worth the wait. Anna’s design was inspired by the coastal villas of the Mediterranean, while still maintaining the quintessential Australian soul. After all, the surf beach is on the doorstep! Not unlike Kit Kemp’s hotels which I have previously blogged about (here), Anna has designed each room differently. She travelled to the U.S. with the hotel owners to source vintage pieces of furniture, antiques and art with the hope that the collection will grow within the hotel over time. A bespoke team of craftsmen from the area and Brisbane were engaged to bring to life many of the antique treasures. Fabrics and wallpapers were sourced from England. Each room is fully wallpapered and features a unique upholstered bedhead layered with patterned pillows.
The Halcyon Suite has a separate dining and living room.
The blue theme continues in the bathroom with these gorgeous floor tiles.
The layered cushions and accessories give the guests a relaxed and comfortable experience.
Anna’s trademark vignettes feature throughout the hotel with no detail overlooked.
The poolside Paper Daisy restaurant is named after the wildflower that is native to the area. I love those blue and white bistro chairs too!
Siobhan Bickle, one of the hotel owners describes Halcyon House as ‘luxurious with a low key Australian feel, whimsical rather than formal and a relaxing retreat’.
Cabarita Beach is a surf beach 15 minutes south of the Gold Coast airport and 30 minutes north from Byron Bay.

I have now added Halcyon House to my list of places to visit. Don’t you agree?
