Last week I attended the Den Fair at the Melbourne Exhibition Centre. Den Fair debuted last year and this year’s event was twice as big with such a high calibre of exhibitors. It showcases high quality furniture, lighting and homewares and is a platform to celebrate the work of emerging and established Australian designers and makers. It was wonderful and so inspiring to see so much Aussie talent under the one roof! Here are some of my favourite products.
I have loved the U.S. lighting brand, Stray Dog Designs for ages and am very excited that Tigger Hall is now the agent. The pendants and table lamps are quirky and colourful. Tigger Hall was also showcasing their new fabric range of beautiful patterns and prints.
I featured the artwork of Chloe Planinsek in last year’s review. This is one of her gorgeous latest pieces.
Armadillo & Co released a new Heirloom Collection which includes these beautiful woollen rugs.
And a Berber Knot Latitude Collection. The textures of these rugs are so soft.

Molmic launched some new sofa designs.

Not surprisingly, Rakumba Lighting won the Best Stand Award. Walking through their stand was an experience. The sheer fabric acting as walls to showcase each lighting piece.

I have saved my favourite for last. The clever team at Zuster revealed their new Jewel Collection of furniture. They describe the range as ‘heirloom quality’ and it is not hard to see why. Each piece has a special detail or embellishment. This ‘Knighthood’ storage cabinet features either a smokey or clear quartz crystal as the centrepiece.
The Flower Storage unit has a beautifully hand carved handle with central crystal.
The scalloped buffet has a glamorous 1970s feel.
The top features a luxe onyx inlay.
The Halo buffet has beautiful glass blown handles.
The detail of these pieces is amazing. With so many furnishings coming from China these days, it is wonderful to see quality furniture that is heirloom worthy.
For only it’s second year, the DEN Fair has set a high benchmark.
