I have been wanting to write a post on Canopy Beds for a while now but to be honest I wasn’t sure whether anyone would read it! I’m not sure if it’s just me but I have had a fascination with the four posters since I was little. One of my best friends growing up was lucky enough to have a brass four poster. It had the full white tulle canopy and curtains which we used to close together and pretend we were princesses.
Fast forward (many years!) to last October when we had an all too fleeting stay at the One and Only in Hayman Island. After seeing the heavenly canopy bed in our room, they came back on my radar.
And recently, Dea and Darren used a canopy bed (custom made by House of Orange) in their master bedroom on The Block which divided the judges.
Perhaps because the ceiling height is too low? The rooms where I think a canopy bed really works have high ceilings, so the scale of the bed is in proportion to the room. But let’s face it, most of us don’t have bedrooms the size of some of the U.S. homes but I can still dream. I also love how these bedrooms are large enough to include additional seating too, a real parent’s retreat!

And for those lucky enough to to have a canopy bed experience from an early age.

Unfortunately it is slim pickings here in Australia when it comes to canopy beds but I managed to find some gems.
So is it just me, are canopy beds worth dreaming about?
