We have been in our new house for one month now and it hasn’t taken long for it to feel like home. There are so many little things that I am loving but one of the big things is the Butler’s Pantry. I have never had a great amount of pantry storage in our previous homes and putting in a Butler’s Pantry was high on my wish list. I am a big fan of shopping at Costco and wanted lots of space to store my ‘bulk’ items. I joked with the tradies that if there was ever a famine, they could come to my place!
Thanks to adjustable shallow shelving, my Tupperware finally has a home where it is easily accessible. I went a bit crazy at Ikea buying their Variera Boxes, which I find are great for storing the kid’s lunchbox snacks etc.
We also included a space for the wine storage, a wine fridge and microwave.
The other item that has long been on my wish list is a good coffee machine. I am a ‘one coffee a day’ girl so it has to be a good one. Until now, we have had a machine at home that I never used. It was complicated, inconsistent and took up a good amount of bench space. At a blogger’s breakfast that I attended last year, I came across the Jura machines. I loved their sleek look and the coffee I tried did not disappoint. One year later, with the bench space waiting, I was ready to commit.
We bought the latest Jura Z6. After one month I would have to say it is one of the best purchases I have made. It is really easy to use (and clean!). It does it all, grinds the beans and heats and froths the milk with the push of one button. We have had lots of visitors and I love being able to offer them a good quality coffee of their choice.
I have found my perfect customised blend. (Tip: always warm the cup first with hot water, makes a big difference!)
This latest model also comes with an app. It still amazes me that I can ‘order’ my customised coffee with my iPhone!
I can be anywhere and with the press of a button my coffee is made and ready for when I get home.
All in all, yes this machine is an investment but I am definitely saving money not buying my hit and miss takeaways. My butler’s pantry has quickly become my new sanctuary!
