Looking back through my Photo Library of this crazy year, I feel grateful to have still been able to complete some gorgeous projects. Unfortunately due to restrictions to visiting homes, I haven’t been able to photograph the finish products but I thought I would share with you some of my ‘behind the scenes of 2020’ images.
January
The year started off with a bang with my Caulfield South client eagerly moving into their completely renovated home. For this project I assisted with the overall design, selecting the kitchen and bathroom finishes as well as paint colours and soft furnishings.
The entrance received a makeover with a newly painted black front door, statement pendant and wall panelling.
We chose a beautiful oak herringbone flooring and warm grey tones for the kitchen.
I selected materials and finishes for all newly renovated bathrooms including the Master Ensuite.
This bathroom belongs to their lucky young daughter. I love the duck egg blue of the subway tile. We have had plantation shutters installed.
My client didn’t realise at the time how much this home office would get used! Roman Blinds have since been installed.
I got a lovely surprise to see my Living Room featured in Home Beautiful. Spaces that are functional yet still beautiful are what I love to create.
February
This month saw the completion of an elegant master bedroom transformation with new cushions and bedside tables.
And the exterior of my home featured in Home Beautiful magazine.
Thankfully at this stage I was still able to visit clients in their homes and deliver these lovely chairs which all had a new lease of life.
There was much excitement as the demo began on the rear of this heritage listed family home. The plan was to go up and out.
April
Restrictions had started to be enforced and lockdown was imminent. Our social lives took a quick turn and I had more time to reorganise my pantry! You can read my tips (here).
Facing a deadline to renovate three bathrooms, I got to scheming and selecting materials.
July
One of the quickest turn arounds, the end result was beautiful! Beautiful terrazzo tiling, elegant lighting and bespoke cabinetry in this ensuite.
A fun palette of grey and yellow for this lucky teenager’s ensuite.
July also saw the completion of a beautiful family Hamptons style home. There were some delays in the soft furnishings but my client was happy just to be in!
The classic and timeless ensuite.
Beautiful white and grey kitchen with dark oak flooring.
The furnishings including custom seating, cushions, floor rug and window treatments took a bit longer than usual but they were worth the wait.
I had completed a large decorating project of a Hamptons style new build in March and was lucky to still be able to carry out the photo shoot with Suzi Appel. Head to my blogpost to see more images (here).
Melbourne’s lockdown rules were in place and showrooms and workrooms quickly closed their doors. Zoom meetings with clients became the new norm and I was receiving samples by a very slow Australia Post service. Fortunately I was still able to keep going with sourcing and helping clients with their plans.
A feature image in Home Beautiful was enough to put a smile on my (masked!) face.
October
After what felt like an eternity, October saw our ‘new’ life begin and we were allowed out. Projects that had been paused were given the green light to go ahead. I was so excited to see the start of this new build.
This decorating project that I started in March…
….was finally able to be installed. It involved re-upholstery of the two armchairs and ottoman (the emerald green velvet ottoman a show-stopper!), sourcing cushions and accessories to style of all the shelving.
December
I was thrilled to be able to install wallpaper again.
The icing on the cake for a remarkable year was a magazine photoshoot of a new build project I completed which will be published next year.
So there we go, some of my highlights of Behind the Scenes of 2020. Thank you for your support this year and following my journey. I look forward to sharing some more tips, projects and things that I love and find inspiring.
I will finish with the link to a marketing video that I have just completed highlighting some details of my own home design and decoration (here).
Merry Christmas and best wishes for 2021. After a much needed break, I look forward to being back in the studio from January 18.
