Garden Farewell

Today marks the last day in our home, the movers are in and we are arriving on my parents’ doorstep, dog and all.  Yes, we found a new home and no, it is not the ‘forever’ one…… yet.  We plan to live in the very daggy 1980s house (think white Berber carpet, low ceilings and Laminex), and build the dream house on the block in the next year or so.  In the meantime I am looking forward to the planning process.

I have loved our garden here and it will surely be missed.  Thanks to the wonderful design advice and maintenance from Booming Gardens, here is how it developed over the years.

The original front garden featured an expanse of patchy grass, an uneven brick path and some plants still in their black plastic pots dotted around.  We removed everything and started again with a more structured, English design that was low maintenance. The bricks from the original path were used to border the new aggregate one.  We only used a few types of plants but repeated them en masse.

The front fly wire doors needed to be custom-made so we were stuck with the original ‘peach’ coloured ones for a while.

Farewell to our little garden oasis.  Moving on to our ‘granny-inspired’ garden from the 80s.  Might need to try my luck again with some Maidenhair Ferns!
