I am thrilled to finally be able to share the photos of my Hamptons inspired new build project featured in the November Home Beautiful magazine.
The Brief:
To design and decorate a family home with details inspired by the Hamptons. The client wanted a classic and timeless look with a fresh colour palette. Also priorities on the checklist were ‘family-friendly’, plenty of storage and a good indoor/outdoor flow.
Kitchen/Dining:
The design needed to be functional for the family of six. Open plan and incorporating materials that are easy to maintain and clean were important. This led to the choice of a porcelain Neolith product for the benchtop to mimic Carrara marble. Shaker cabinets were specified with a classic chrome pull handle.
A herringbone splashback tile adds pattern while the grey ticking stripe roman blind softens the space. The pendants tie in all the elements perfectly.
My client’s favourite duck egg blue colour was introduced into the dining space through the upholstered chairs.
Laundry:
I was so excited to get the go ahead to introduce a bolder colour in the laundry! The navy cabinetry and brass accessories together make this space somewhere that I would be happy to do the washing in.
Bathrooms:
In the Master Ensuite we kept the cabinetry and benchtop consistent. I added pattern in the floor tile. The Ralph Lauren wall lights and subway tiles give reference to the Hamptons.
I always love a round window!
In the kids’ bathroom we used a similar but lighter coloured floor tile and luxurious free standing bath.
For the powder room, a similar palette to the laundry keeps the overall look consistent. Furthermore the patterned floral wallpaper adds personality.
Bedrooms:
The Master Bedroom has beautiful sea views from the balcony. The vaulted lined ceiling along with a feature pendant light add to the grandeur of the room.
For the girls’ bedrooms, I included a feature painted barn door which complements the colour tones in the wallpaper.
Al Fresco:
Opening up from the kitchen/dining space is the Al Fresco and entertaining area, complete with outdoor kitchen.
A huge thank you to Suzi Appel Photography for capturing the beautiful details and colours of this home. And to my wonderful clients who trusted me with their vision and help bring it to life.
